A Colourful Beach House
This stunning beach house renovation on right on the waters at Voelklip Beach Hermanus, gave us the opportunity to design in amazing and modern colourways with a client who was simply in love with colour.
The Living Room
For the living room design, we used existing furniture items such as the sofas and ottoman and recovered them in new fabrics. Our main mulit-coloured fabric was burnt orange, turquoise, duck egg blue, mustard and muted greens and blues. This allowed us to bring in those colours into other areas of the space. We used a wallpaper that reflected the gorgeous, expansive sea view visible from the room.
Again, our client wanted colour in the bedrooms and nothing bland. As such, we used interesting and perhaps unexpected colour combinations including: navy, mustard & charcoal; sage and lilac, aqua and purple as well as lime green and turquoise.
Dining Room and Kitchen Renovation
The Bright Outdoors
For the exterior design, we went very organic so as not to detract from the amazing seaviews, but added pops of colour to bring the outdoors into the indoor colour schemes.
The challenge here was to transform a very dark and narrow upstairs lobby area into a personalized space for our client. We added and skylights and light colours as well as round rugs to make the space look bigger, wider and brighter.
Hermanus Bar Renovation
A high-end client engaged us to completely renovate his bar from a out-of-date, dark and dingy space into a light, sophisticated area that tied in with the rest of the house in an open plan layout.
Part of the design spec was to marry the inside deck area with the bar. Beautiful glass concertina doors lead from the bar area to the deck that overlooks the sea. We tiled the outside wall on the deck area with Mediterranean colour and styled tiles to reflect the new bar tiles inside.
The newly laid balau deck is dressed with ultra comfy furniture, organic scatter cushions and a outdoor rug which brings in the colour of the tiles and the indoors.
The aqua herringbone tiles on the frontage of the bar counter add a modern twist to the bar design and also bring the colours of the spaces together. The springbok table lamp adds a quirky element to the Springbok themed bar.

Onrus House – Open Living Design
The ultimate in open plan living, we re-modelled this Onrus house by redesigning outdoor and living spaces to optimize the aesthetic and functional areas. The bedrooms stayed the same cosmetic shape but were redecorated.
Spacious stylish living room was designed with large stacking doors putting the splash pool in the sitting room when the doors are open on summer days. Oversized artworks , industrial pendant lights, marble nesting tables and overlaid Nguni rugs give a modern, on trend, artistic look and feel
The kitchen is cleverly designed to flow across all the living areas. From the kitchen one not only has a sea view, but are also connected with guests in the living room, pool deck and upper braai deck
The dining area is also open plan and linked to living room and kitchen. The design style flows throughout the space with artistic pieces, industrial elements and touches of African design by the sea
The small but well designed and highly functional kitchen we did in all white with mirrored cupboards to reflect light around the space and make it look much bigger than it actually is. We painted the walls in blush pink to break the white and give it a soft and very on trend look.
The master bedroom is a simple, understated and sophisticated space of calm. Dressed in soft lilacs, greys and whites. A high white screen is used as a headboard to give a majestic look
This penthouse apartment on the beautiful Hermanus waterfront has panoramic seaside views. When Overberg Interiors first saw the apartment, it was so run down that we had to gut the entire interior. We removed the kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, the windows and doors and literally started from scratch. The entire apartment had to be re-plumbed and re-wired. Project management of old buildings with body corporate limitations is certainly not without its challenges!

Hermanus Interiors – Industrial Design
Hermanus Interiors – Industrial Design. Overberg Interior designed this new build house in one of the smaller new estates on the Hermanus golf course. The house was specifically done up for the Hermanus holiday letting market, and therefore needed to appeal to a broad range of potential guests, but still have a cool, modern industrial twist which the owners liked.
All the furniture in the living room was bespoke designed by Overberg Interiors. We went for a grey and navy blue colour scheme, combined with beautiful natural woods, and mixed metal industrial touches. The well made inlayed coffee table sits on a modern striated and easy to clean rug.
The large original African artwork offers the space a touch of yellow which is picked up in the yellow ottoman.
Overberg Interiors designed the dining room table and server again with big industrial style handles and metal finishes in the wood to create the look. The floors are done in a wood look alike tile.
The oversized industrial style black lantern sits perfectly with the kitchen’s lighting and round oversized mirror above the server.
The dining room is simple and stylish.
In the twin guest bedroom we went for a lime and olive colour scheme in the cushions, headboards and large olive and green plaid rug.
In the second bedroom, we used exactly the same fabrics and textures as in the other bedroom, but switched the colours to pale blue and grey to keep the spaces cohesive.
